MONITORED & MAINTAINED FLEETS: 21 tram units of 5 cars of the Urbos tram model.
Since the inauguration of its full tramline in March 2013, Tranvía de Zaragoza has become one of Europe’s great tramway success stories. Carrying over 100,000 passengers per day – in a city of just 700,000 residents and along a line only 12.8 kilometres long – it is the busiest tramline in Spain. The fleet features LeadMind, CAF’s digital platform for optimising fleet operation and maintenance. LeadMind is providing a great improvement, accelerating diagnostics times and increasing fleet availability and reliability.
Under CAF’s Full Service maintenance model, digital fleet monitoring, predictive maintenance capabilities and operational expertise work together to maximise availability, improve reliability and optimise lifecycle costs while ensuring a high-quality passenger service.
For Zaragoza Tram, a Wayside Wheel Profile Monitoring (WPM) – Indoor system has been installed to automatically measure key wheelset parameters, including wheel profile geometry, flange height, flange width, qR value, wheel diameter, and axle dimensions such as the back-to-back distance between wheels.
