For Metro de Quito (Ecuador), a Wayside Wheel Profile Monitoring (WPM) system has been installed to automatically measure key wheelset parameters, including wheel profile geometry, flange height, flange width, qR value, wheel diameter, and axle dimensions such as the back-to-back distance between wheels. As part of CAF’s Full Service maintenance strategy, this solution enables early detection of wheel degradation, while improving safety and fleet availability.
