WHEEL INSPECTION

Wheel Profile Monitoring (WPM)

The Automatic Wheel Profile Monitoring System (WPM) is specifically engineered to measure wheel profile geometry and diameter with exceptional precision and reliability, operating fully without human intervention. Once an entire train unit passes through the system, the collected data is automatically transmitted to LeadMind for advanced processing and analysis.

Key parameters measured

  • Wheel profile geometry
  • Wheel profile parameters (including flange height, flange width, and qR)
  • Wheel diameter
  • Axle parameters (such as back-to-back distance)

Wheel Defect Detection System (WDDs)

Wheel Defect Detection system (WDDs) monitors wheel–rail interaction to identify localized wheel tread defects (flats, cracks, spalling, shelling, polygonization). It classifies defect severity into Warning or Alarm, and also detects out‑of‑round wheels (ovalization) while measuring individual wheel loads to identify imbalances at wheelset and bogie levels.

Key parameters measured

  • Detection of wheel tread defects (flats, cracks, spalling, shelling, polygonization)
  • Identification of abnormal behavior in secondary suspension
  • Detection of imbalances in wheelsets and bogies
  • Measurement of wheel ovalization (out‑of‑roundness)
  • Individual wheel load measurement
  • Analysis of rail vibration signals at the wheel–rail interface
